Tommy Hilfiger Does Hollywood in 3-D

Tommy Hilfiger Does Hollywood in 3-D

TommyIf you really want to rock a Hollywood premiere, searchlights are so old school. When Tommy Hilfiger opened his West Hollywood flagship store in February—at the corner of Robertson and Beverly—they went 3-D, just like the latest blockbuster films.

Team Tommy turned to Pearl Media and Pearl Media Productions (based in Fairfield, N.J.), which produced a “massive” 3-D projection for the street-level store windows, making the Hilfiger brand live in 3-D for passersby to see—sans the dorky glasses. Pearl Media specializes in 3-D projection mapping, interactive storefront advertising and large-format outdoor campaigns.

A nearby building was transformed for the opening event by using its exterior as a giant canvas. Continue reading →

Springing into Inspiration

Springing into Inspiration

SONY DSCThe calendar tells us we’re only days away from the Spring Equinox. And after our long winter, we’re so ready for flora and fauna to take root and flight. Over in Tokyo’s Ginza district, this inspiring installation (which was on view from Feb. 4-March 6) is the work of Emmanuelle Moureaux, a French architect and designer residing in Tokyo since 1996. Called “puzzle building,” the window display project is a Jenga-reminiscent stacking of colorful rectangular boxes that take inspiration from skyscrapers. The 1960-era building houses Japan’s Pola Cosmetics.

Moureaux established her eponymous firm emmanuelle moureaux architecture + design in 2003. She’s known for large-scale installations blending color and space, as well as designs for architecture, interiors, furniture and products. Continue reading →

American Eagle Donates, You Decide

American Eagle Donates, You Decide

SCA2So, here’s a dynamic pairing that’s been benefiting the planet since 2006—American Eagle Outfitters (AE) and the Student Conservation Association (SCA).

Pittsburgh-based AE has been supporting SCA, based in Washington, D.C., and its mission to build the next generation of conservation leaders. Each year, some 60 college-aged students perform a range of projects from removing invasive species to repairing and building new trails. Through AE Better World, American Eagle Outfitters’ year-round philanthropy program, the SCA also conducts recruiting activities on nearly 150 college campuses and in high schools nationwide.

Recently, AE upped its ante by promoting SCA activities in more than 800 of its stores in the United States and Canada. Continue reading →

Anthro’s Push Play Project

Anthro’s Push Play Project

pppemail2Anthropologie style mavens across the country are finding intriguing
email invites in their inboxes. No, it’s not a trend alert or sale
notice from the Philly-based retailer, but announcement of a
complimentary in-store concert. Talk about a nod to the hand-and-glove
combo that is music and fashion.

Anthro calls its music series the “Push Play Project” and they’ve been
staging mini-concerts in stores across the country to do good. To
wit: Anthropologie at Fort Worth’s University Park Village hosted
Stacy King and Sucre, her band, for a mini-concert followed by a
benefit shopping hour. Attendees were invited to shop Anthro’s chic
clothing, shoes and home décor to benefit the Children’s Education
Program at Bass Performance Hall. Continue reading →
